English

In Junior School we are developing our Kindergarten-Year 6 students’ knowledge, understanding and skills with a focus on oral language and communication; the teaching of reading from print conventions through to fluency and comprehension; the writing process from creating texts to responding to literature and the development of students’ vocabulary and handwriting.

Mathematics

Mathematics in Kindergarten-Year 6 is divided into three strands:

  • Number & Algebra
  • Measurement & Space
  • Statistics and Probability

Students are provided with the opportunity to develop their understanding and skills by exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, working mathematically to solve problems and communicate clearly their thinking and reasoning.

Science and Technology

Science and Technology in Junior School develops students’ curiosity about natural phenomena and the built environment. Students develop their knowledge and understanding through practical applications, problem solving, communication and evaluation.

Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE)

HSIE immerses our Kindergarten-Year 6 students in the world of History and Geography. Students look at how we interact with the world, how society operates and how it is changing from our past to the present day. Each year, students will spend a semester learning about our History, and a semester learning about Geography.

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)

PDHPE in Junior School aims to develop students' knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes needed to take action to protect and enhance their own and others’ health, safety and wellbeing in varied and changing contexts. Personal Development and Health lessons are taught once per week. Physical Education lessons are essential in teaching our students the fundamental movement skills they need to be able to successfully participate in physical activity. These lessons are taught once per week, with Sport being held each Friday.
