Junior School Student Support
At Wyong Christian Community School, we aim to meet the potential of every student so that they will achieve their best in all areas of their learning. Our Student Support Team provide extension and support across Kindergarten to Year 12. Working with a comprehensive tracking process of student performance and achievement, we strive to provide an academically rigorous curriculum for our students that is both challenging and inclusive.
In Junior School, the support team works in collaboration with class teachers to provide support that is inclusive and meets each students learning needs. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is created collectively with teachers, parents, health professionals and the student, where possible, to best meet the needs of our students. A range of interventions are in place in all subject areas to support student access to learning. With the dedicated literacy and numeracy blocks in the first half of the day, targeted literacy and numeracy support groups can take place including the research-based Macquarie University MultiLit program to help students improve their reading, corrective reading small groups to improve comprehension and targeted Mathematics support groups. Students' physical and social-emotional needs are also supported by our support team and specific training and structures are put in place to meet student needs.
