Secondary School Student Support
At Wyong Christian Community School, we aim to meet the potential of every student so that they will achieve their best in all areas of their learning. Our Student Support Team provide extension and support across Kindergarten to Year 12. Working with a comprehensive tracking process of student performance and achievement, we strive to provide an academically rigorous curriculum for our students that is both challenging and inclusive.
In Secondary School, we aim to establish a strong partnership with students, teachers, parents, and health professionals to best meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Similar to the Junior School, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed for students that outlines specific supports and accommodations that can be put in place in the classroom for instructional, assessment, environmental and social-emotional supports. The curriculum is adjusted, and a variety of strategies such as explicit instruction, positive reinforcement, scaffolds and models of work examples are put in place best engage all students in their learning. Support staff work in collaboration with class teachers to provide in-class support as well as small group interventions for specific skill development. Assistance with assessments and homework is provided through regular check points with students to monitor and track their understanding of tasks and monitor their progress.
